Welcome to the Royal Dorset Yacht Club

On behalf of the flag officers and club members, I welcome you to the Royal Dorset Yacht Club website.

Our club has been at the heart of sailing in Weymouth for over 140 years and boasts a fascinating history. The Club was formed in 1875, making this the 142nd year, we are currently planning the 2017 Royal Dorset Summer Regatta, keep an eye on the website for details.

The fabulous clubhouse retains and celebrates the Club's history and traditions whilst providing first class bar and catering facilities - with separate lounge and dining areas, free WiFi and stunning views over Weymouth Harbour. Please keep an eye on the website for more opportunities to catch up on the season's events, share some 'salty sea dog tales' and make plans for the coming season.

Our programme of monthly member's nights is well underway with a number of interesting talks to whet your appetites for voyages further afield. We have recently introduced 'live jazz' evenings and have hosted a number of nationally recognised musicians including Chris Dean - leader of the Sid Lawrence Orchestra (details will be advertised on the website).

The Royal Dorset offers a warm welcome, especially to visiting yachtsmen. There are a number of membership options available including an 'Affiliate Membership' category, specifically for boat owners from other yacht clubs. Additionally we have mooring spaces available in Portland Harbour - details in the 'Moorings' area.

To our existing and prospective members, as well as visitors, the Royal Dorset is open for you to enjoy. Should you require information on arranging a private function or group visit to the Club, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I trust that you are making plans for a successful and enjoyable season and look forward to seeing you during 2017.

If you're planning to see the film Dunkirk, take a close look at the starring "Little Ship".  You'll see an RDYC burgee proudly flying from the mast. She also wears a Blue Ensign provided by the club. We're pleased to have helped in the making of the film!
