Adrian Crook Honorary Sailing Secretary

Following a short career in the merchant navy, Adrian completed over 30 years in the Fire Service. Adrian has been sailing since the age of 10 and, with his wife - Kristin, has competed at both national and international level. They now take part in both keel boat racing and cruising in their J120 Yacht Mojo. Adrian is an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor and offers tuition at all levels, sail and power boat, through Weymouth Sailing School. He has been a member of RDYC since 2004 and has held a number of positions, most recently as Commodore.   Adrian is also an active member of Yacht Clubs of Weymouth (YCW)

Kristin Crook - Commodore,  Honorary Treasurer

Kristin has been involved in sailing and water sports since childhood. She has considerable dinghy and keelboat experience and has competed at national and international level. Kristin has been a member of RDYC since 2004. As a Chartered Accountant, running her own company, she has brought a great deal of financial expertise to the position of Treasurer over a number of years. Kristin was appointed as Commodore in January 2017 and is the first Lady Commodore in the Club's 142 year history.

Allen Wells - Trustee

Allen has been a Royal Dorset Yacht Club Full member for about 12 years.  Allen owns a sailing yacht and takes an active part in the Club's activities.  Allen became a Trustee in November 2018.

 

 

Ron Glover - Trustee

Ron has lived and worked in Weymouth all of his life, apart from a few years spent travelling the South West as relief Cinema Manager.  He joined the RDYC in 1970, and since this time has been an active member, supporting the club and serving on the Committee as Social Secretary for a period.

Leighton Grey - Honorary Powerboat Secretary

Leighton has been a member of the Royal Dorset Yacht Club since 2004 and first joined the committee in 2008.  Leighton has also held the position of Commodore and is a committed motor boater spending most of the summer cruising the south coast and the coasts of the Channel Islands and France.  Leighton will be organising cruising with his wife Janet .

John Mitchell-Hewson - Honorary Secretary & Rear Commodore

John is a Chartered Secretary (FCIS, January 1984).  Having spent 40 years in the City, 30 years of which as Company Secretary of some fairly significant banking firms, John retired from full-time employment in June 2017.  John has been a Full Member of the Club since January 2010 and joined the Committee as Hon. Secretary in October 2018

Dennis Corbett - Trustee

Dennis trained as an Industrial Chemist, spending a number of years specialising in Water Treatment before entering senior management and creating his own Specialist company.  Much of his work was in the construction industry, with a diverse client base including MI6 Headquarters, Eurostar and a series of major Hospitals including Dorchester and Bournemouth.  Several years were spent in Saudi Arabia heading up a team of engineers in specialised and innovative oil production techniques.

Dennis became a Trustee in November 2018.

Liz has been a member of RDYC for 18 months. She is a retired police officer from Yorkshire and is a keen motor cruiser and jet skier.  Liz is a regular member of the bar team as well as a full member on the Committee.

Richard Thomas - IT, Communications and Web Strategy

Richard is a retired yacht dellivery skipper, an RYA YachtMaster (Ocean), and spent many years as a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and the Public Relations Consultants Association. He joined the club as a Full Member in September 2017 owning a Gaff Cutter, but sold it in 2018 and became an Associate member.  He joined the Committee in August 2019.  He plays 5 string Banjo for Hello Hopeville.
